The San Mateo Municipal College celebrates its 14th Founding Anniversary with the theme: “SMMC @ 14: Responding to Global Challenges of Improving Lives through Quality Education and Responsible Stewardship of Nature” on December 3-6, 2018 at the Jose F. Diaz Stadium. This year’s celebration focuses on responsive actions towards protecting and nurturing the environment which is a present global challenge.

Sports like volleyball, basketball, chess, and cheer-dance are among the activi-ties in the event. Aside from this, a battle of the bands is also included. Preliminaries of the ball games are on November 28 and 29, 2018 while championships on all events are on December 3-5, 2018. Awarding is set in the afternoon of December 5, 2018.

Capping the celebration is the Search for Mr. and Ms. SMMC 2018 on December 6, 2018.

Asked about the theme of this year’s search which is “Angels and Warriors of the Environment: Students On-call for Moth-er Earth,”

Professor Victor P. Rebosada, who is organizing the search, together with Professor Filipino M. Salamat and the Supreme Student Council, says that the search is about developing in the candidates and the students the love and the value of protecting and con-serving the environment for a greener future.

Candidates promote their advocacies on environmental protection and conservation and are required to make a creative costume out of recycled materials, some-thing which is not a part in the previous Mr. and Ms. SMMC competitions.
